'Pollutions Haze'
Watercolour paintings on wooden boards, with photo projections overplayed
2018
Climate change, species endangerment and familiarity are the main ideas behind my work. Each painting is a magnified section of an animal. Despite being a collection of four, the paintings are exhibited in pairs; one representing a local animal and the other and exotic animal. The images projected are a variety of edited photographs taken of local and tropical environments. The reoccurring projections abruptly changing shows how fast environments can transform.
With the projections playing simultaneously, a relationship is created between the images and the paintings; our environments are reliant on their ecosytems and animals, as are the animals on their environment. Without informing the observer of the species of animal or area, you are forced to widen your scope. These small connections raise concerns for the threat of climate change without it being obviously stated.
