In these pieces I am exploring the relationship between pattern, colour and nature; taking a different approach to highlight designs that we don’t see or pay attention to. Researching different cultures traditions with their environments I found a few places around the world that use scarring as forms of communication; depicting words/phrases as intricate complex patterns over the skin, some using thorns to complete the design. Then wearing these scars with pride. However while some still believe in this process, some individuals are opposed to the traditions.
